Anonimisation and Pseudonymisation
Anonymisation: This is the process of permanently removing personal identifiers from data so that the data is no longer linked to any individual. Once data is anonymised, it becomes "non-personal data" and falls outside the scope of the GDPR. Pseudonymisation: This is the process of substituting identifiable information with codes or pseudonyms, but without erasing the possibility of re-identification. This process is reversible with the use of separate key information. Therefore, pseudonymisation does not exempt data from the GDPR, as the possibility of re-identification still exists.
